The motocross and mountain bike gear and apparel brand launches into the adventure category with a technical line of jackets and pants.

If you’re a fan of Fox Racing, chances are you’re either a mountain biker or a motocross rider. The brand has been innovating technical apparel and protective gear in the aforementioned categories for more than five decades. Now, it’s stepping into a new, rapidly growing two-wheeled subculture: adventure riding.

โ€œWe recognize that off-road riding is no longer contained to tracks and the trailheads of mountains and deserts,” says Michael Crocco, senior global marketing manager at Fox Racing. “It can now be an extension to a riderโ€™s commute or countryside tour where every technical feature matters to maximize the experience on the bike.”

“The ADV Collection was built to connect riders to dirt with highly versatile gear.”

As with every product Fox brings to market, the brand took its time to not only thoroughly test each new style before launch but solve the pain points of what else was out there.

The resulting collection, which took three years to develop, features three distinct sub-lines to meet the diverse needs of the category. But there’s a common thread throughout.

“The ADV Collection was built to connect riders to dirt with highly versatile gear that has everything you need and nothing you donโ€™t,” Crocco says.

With that, let’s dig into some of the details that make Fox Racing’s ADV collection uniquely tailored to the needs dual-sport and adventure riders.

Recon ADV: High-tech, no fuss performance

Recon is the most fully featured, premium sub-line within the ADV collection. The jacket and pants are designed around a minimalist chassis with a close-to-body fit.

Three-layer GORE-TEX stretch fabric is employed throughout, maximizing mobility while keeping you dry from the outside in (waterproof) and the inside out (breathable). In the shoulders, elbows, back and knees, Recon pieces are reinforced with SuperFabricยฎ for enhanced abrasion resistance and feature removable D30ยฎ CE level inserts.

Defend ADV: Maximum storage and ventilation

Fox is clear about Defend ADV’s value proposition: features, features, features. In practice, the line has the most storage โ€” the jacket boasts nine internal and external pockets โ€” and the most ventilation of any style in the ADV collection.

For instance, the vents aren’t limited to the underarms โ€” there are zippered openings in the arms and legs of the Defend ADV jacket and pants, too. And the former also features what Fox calls a “rally vent,” a secondary main zipper attached to breathable mesh fabric that essentially transforms the entire front of the jacket into a huge vent.

Ranger ADV: Performance meets practical

Though Ranger represents the entry-level price point in the ADV collection, it shouldn’t be mistaken it as a budget or no-frills option. As with Recon and Defend, Ranger features Fox’s minimalistic chasis design, premium GORE-TEX fabrics and D30, CE-certified protection.

To keep the cost competitive and performance high, Fox opted for a two-layer GORE-TEX fabric and streamlined the pieces’ storage and ventilation features to offer a minimalistic experience that’s still capabable of supporting all-day off-road adventures.
