Summer is well underway, and the camper competition has never been hotter. From an expanding RV that fits in your garage to an ultra-rugged camper to a trailer that helps tow itself along, there are a ton of unique options to hit the trails this camping season.

One of the latest comes from a familiar name: Polydrops. The California brand debuted its eponymous first trailer back in 2019 as a lightweight teardrop trailer with an angled, futuristic design and a silver finish. It was a Tesla Cybertruck-like design that actually pre-dated the reveal of the Cybertruck by several months, and it looked like nothing else at the campsite.

Polydrops has refined and improved its original design over the years, but all of its trailers have been small, designed as transportable “personal spaces” rather than traditional campers.

But that changes with the new Polydrops P21, which brings the brand closer to RV territory than ever before.

Sleek, Aerodynamic, Family-Sized?

First announced at the end of last year and now available for pre-order, the Polydrops P21 is the South Korean brand’s first-ever camping trailer with room for a family of four.

The P21 maintains the futuristic design language of other Polydrops trailers. It’s still silver, it still has sharp angles (though not quite as many as the original Polydrops) and it was still designed with EVs in mind. It’s just bigger.

Despite its larger size, the P21 is incredibly aerodynamic — it’s the most aerodynamic trailer in its class, according to Polydrops — thanks to some clever engineering.

The trailer features a wedge-shaped front and a boat tail topped with a spoiler — yes, a spoiler — that work in conjunction to allow the P21 to slice through the air with vastly reduced drag. This creates less of a towing burden on your vehicle, improving gas mileage or EV range and reducing the need to stop and refuel or recharge as often.

The new camper can sleep four, offers six feet of interior vertical height and measures 21 feet in length. Inside, the P21 is just as attractive as on the outside, with a minimalist design that includes expansive windows, ambient lighting and warm tones.

The queen-sized main bed in the rear of the camper can be converted into a lounge or working space, while a kids’ bed sits snuggled into the front wedge. This area can also function as a storage deck for your camping gear. You also have the option of separately adding a cooking station, refrigerator and/or bathroom, allowing you to customize how loaded you want your P21 to be.

Like other Polydrops campers, the P21 is entirely electric and draws power from integrated 1300W solar panels. It’s equipped with an A/C and heat pump system and is fully insulated for use in all seasons.

The camper’s lightweight aluminum frame is both rugged and rustproof, and the trailer’s dry weight is just 1,200 lbs – 1,800 lbs, depending on your options. The P21 is also fitted with a Timbren independent suspension system for the smoothest ride possible.

Pricing and Availability

The P21 is now available for pre-order on the Polydrops website, with a refundable $100 deposit required to place an order. The base price starts at $38,900, though the pricing for the add-ons is not yet finalized.

With production expected to commence in Q4 of this year, Polydrops says you’ll be able to configure your exact build at that time. You’ll also be required to put down a non-refundable deposit of $4,900 once production begins on your specific camper.
