You can get a camper van in practically any style imaginable today, from basic Sprinter conversions to luxurious mansions on wheels to apocalypse-ready overlanding fortresses. But the most iconic will always be the classic VW Bus camper van.

When Volkswagen announced the ID. Buzz a few years back as the future electrified iteration of the VW Bus, fans of the brand were understandably excited about the prospect of a camper version.

Those hopes were dashed earlier this year when VW announced that they had no plans to release a camper van version of its new hippie-approved EV, citing a lack of demand on the market.

So with no ID. Buzz camper van coming from VW, it’s up to third-party companies to come up with their own takes on what an electric VW Bus camper van should look like, and that’s exactly what longtime VW camper conversion specialist Peace Vans has done.

Peace Out

Peace Vans has extensive experience in camper van conversions for VW models like the Vanagon, as well as models from other brands, and it’s one of the leading places to have your old VW Bus converted to an electric vehicle. It’s also the largest VW camper van repair and restoration outfit in the U.S.

So if anyone was going to come up with a viable camper solution for the new ID. Buzz, it’s them.

Peace Vans has unveiled three distinct conversions for the first ID. Buzz camper conversions for the American market, with each one catering to a different type of camper.

The Buzz.Box is the most basic conversion and consists of a custom-built rear chef’s kitchen. The unit replaces the van’s third row of seating and can be extended out from the rear of the van. It offers such options as a 35L refrigerator, an integrated cooktop, a sink and more.

The Buzz.Box.Sleeper is the next step up. It features the same kitchen unit as the Buzz.Box but adds a nearly-queen-sized bed that is placed over the folded-down second-row seats.

Finally, there’s the Buzz.Camper, which is a complete gut job that converts the ID. Buzz into a true mobile home. The second and third rows are both removed from the van and are replaced with a custom lounge area that converts into a bed, along with a full interior kitchen and storage cabinets.

Pricing and Availability

If you’ve been chomping at the bit for a new VW camper van, then Peace Vans has you covered. The brand has its camper conversions available for pre-order now, with deliveries to American customers expected to begin this November. Considering that the 2025 ID. Buzz hasn’t even launched in the U.S. yet — though it’s expected to in the coming months, and certainly before year’s end — that’s mighty impressive.

Also impressive is the price, as Peace Vans isn’t charging a total arm and a leg for these conversions. The Buzz.Box is priced at $7,995, while the Buzz.Box.Sleeper costs a fair bit more at $10,995. Neither of those prices includes tax, shipping (if applicable) or installation costs, but they still sound pretty reasonable.

The Buzz.Camper is still a bit of a work in progress as Peace Vans is working on a Department of Transportation-approved solution to the current lack of rear seats in the layout, and as a result, the price is not yet finalized for the build. Peace Vans says it’s coming in Q3 of this year though, so expect everything to be sorted out very soon.

Lastly, if you’re wondering about adding a pop top … well, Peace Vans is working on that, too. The brand plans to spend the entirety of 2025 developing the feature to ensure it’s available by the end of next year, and customers who purchase one of the existing conversion packages will automatically be added to the waitlist for a chance to add a pop top once they become available.
