Peak Design Just Changed the Way You Can Travel with Your EDC Gear

Most packing cubes offer little utility outside of transit. Peak Design’s new ultralight pouch isn’t like most packing cubes.

Any packing cube is better than none. Lightweight bags and pouches bring order in the chaos of traveling. But for all the good they do in-transit, few cubes offer much utility once you actually arrive at your destination. When was the last time you actually brought one on a hike around the campsite or jaunt around a foreign city?

With its new Ultralight Packing Cube, Peak Design offers a clever solution to the dilemma of untapped potential. The minimalist, lightweight packing cube can do everything a traditional design offers … and then some.

Peak Design Ultralight Packing Cube

Available in three sizes, the Ultralight Packing Cubes are simple, single-zip pouches that provide no-nonsense access, no matter how you choose to use them.

They come in two fabrics. The first is a see-through nylon stretch mesh that expands, catering to overpackers or travelers who pick up miscellaneous knickknacks along the way. A second option, made with Terra Shell 50D, offers enhanced water and tear resistance with the help of weatherproof zippers.

But what really sets the Ultralight Packing Cube apart is its utility once you arrive at basecamp or your destination. With the addition of an adjustable carry strap or Peak Design camera strap (both sold separately), the Ultralight Packing Cube turns into a minimalist EDC sling capable of carrying a day’s worth of provisions or small gear.

What’s more, the cubes each boast two external carry strap pass-throughs to mount them onto other luggage. When not in use, their ultralight design can fold flat or roll up; an elastic zip pull cord can keep them cinched up and compact.
