Meet the World’s Most Durable Duffel Bag, Made for Your Hardest Adventures

Any adventure duffel worth its weight is tough. Durability is one of many reasons people love the Black Hole and Base Camp, two iconic bags from Patagonia and The North Face.

Made with ultralightweight bio-based Dyneema, Norda’s new bag, the Toolbox, doesn’t weigh a lot. But it sure is tough. Really tough. In fact, the Canadian running label calls it the “world’s most durable duffel bag.” They might be right.

From afar, the Toolbox looks a lot like your classic adventure duffel from any of the big-name outdoor brands. Its tubular interior has a 70-liter capacity and it features multiple carry options, thanks to ergonomic back straps (which are cleverly removable, in this case).

Unlike the Black Hole and Base Camp duffel bags, however, it’s not made with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The Toolbox is crafted using bio-based Dyneema, otherwise known as the world’s strongest fiber. Pound for pound, the material is 15 times stronger than steel.

Dyneema in the DNA

Founded in 2021, Norda is well-acquainted with the properties of Dyneema. The material can be found across its line of trail-running shoes, such as the 001, 002 and recently released 003. But the Toolbox is its first foray into bags and luggage.

Running makes up the rest of Norda’s DNA, so naturally the bag includes features conducive to the pursuit of going far and fast on the trails or otherwise.

Those include myriad mesh pockets; an adjustable chest strap and emergency whistle on the buckle; elastic bands to tie down hardware and prevent it from bouncing up and down in-transit; and cinch straps, which allow for compression of the storage space, as needed.

Every Toolbox also comes with an organizational stow bag to carry a pair of muddy shoes or sweaty clothes after a long day outdoors. True to form, it too is made with bio-based Dyneema.

Pricing and availability

Available now, the Toolbox goes for $595 and only comes in one color, white, and size, 70 liters. No word from Norda on how many units are available but the expect the Toolbox to sell out. It’s a limited run, the company says.
