Outerknown was founded by pro surfer Kelly Slater in 2015 intially as a menswear-only brand. In 2022, the company expanded into women’s wear.
Aesthetically, it’s known for laid-back, everyday wear essentials that are comfortable and often distinguished by a faded/broken-in look and feel. And while it’s undoubtedly coast-life inspired, most of the brand’s lineup will look right at home in any local.
Outerknown is also publicly committed to protecting the environment and supporting fair labor, though it’s honest enough to acknowledge it’s still far from achieving its ultimate end goals.
