The 2025 Audi E-Tron GT Family Makes the R8 Feel Quaint

The premier EV gains significant power and charging updates and includes a Performance version that’s the most powerful production car Audi has ever made.

Tony Stark’s (RIP) EV of choice is getting some serious upgrades.ย

Every version ofย Audi’sย premier electrified sports car, which now includes the S E-Tron GT, RS E-Tron GT, and RS E-Tron GT Performance, is now more powerful and charges faster than ever.ย

But the top of the top-of-the-line Performance edition of the RS E-Tron GT, in particular, boasts specs that truly feel straight out of a comic book.ย

BEHOLD, AUDIโ€™S MOST POWERFUL PRODUCTION CAR EVER

The Audi RS E-Tron GT Performance edition can produce 912 horsepower, at least when a special overboost function is engaged, which adds an extra 94 hp of lung-crushing oomph for up to 10 seconds. Those figures also qualify the RS E-Tron GT Performance Edition as the most powerful production car Audi has made in its 114-year history.ย

Speed is equally stunning. It’ll reach zero to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, which is still just a hair slower than the 2.4 seconds touted by its sister super EV, theย 2024 Porsche Taycan Turbo S. It also tops out at 155 mph. And this technically a four-door passenger car, folks.

THE REST OF THE LINE ISNโ€™t EXACTLY SLOW EITHER

All of this focus on the Performance edition doesn’t mean the S and regular RS versions are sloths. The baseline S model offers 671 total horsepower, significantly more than theย previous high-performance RS E-Tron GTย (637 hp), and can hit 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds. The standard RS version jumps to 845hp with a 0-62mph of 2.8 seconds.ย

Pulling this engineering leap off required a bevy of changes, including, most notably, a new rear-mounted electric motor that’s roughly 22 pounds lighter and featured across the entire E-Tron GT lineup. The line’s battery is also 22 pounds lighter, yet also somehow bigger than before, jumping in net capacity from 83.7 to 97.0 kWh.ย

Most importantly, from a usage POV, Audi states that due to increasing the peak DC fast-charging rate from 270 to 320 kilowatts, the E-Tron GT lineup can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in 18 minutes, which is the equivalent of adding 174 miles of range. Given the game of roulette that is DC fast charging these days, though, we’d be skeptical of many owners seeing this rate regularly in the real world.ย

Larger standard steel discs help stop the baseline S model, while both RS models gain tungsten carbide-coated brakes. Track-ready carbon-ceramic rotors with 10-piston front calipers are also optional for every model.

Naturally, the suspensions have been updated as well to a two-chamber, two-valve air setup that can adjust across the typical suite of driving modes. However, a performance mode is unsurprisingly reserved for the RS Performance version. Buyers who prefer something more can also opt for an active suspension that controls each wheel and even all-wheel-steering.

Aesthetically, the most significant change across the lineup is a new grille and a 2D version of Audi’s four-ring logo. All three editions also feature a new squared-off steering wheel and boast additional colors, wheels, seat materials, and even a pano roof as options, with specific versions also gaining various exterior tweaks and changes.

Given that Audi’s official announcement was technically only for Europe, we don’t know the EPA range or US pricing yet, but we expect those details to surface pretty soon. The 2024 baseline edition of the e-tron GT started at just under $108,000 for reference.
