In 2004, industrial designer Alan Adler set out to create the perfect coffee maker. According to many a java lover, he succeeded. His invention, the AeroPress, is a small, cheap, transparent cylinder that works a lot like a syringe, pushing brewed coffee through a filter on one end.
The beauty of the AeroPress is its simplicity, giving control back to the person using it. Users can dial in the water-to-grounds ratio and brew time, and much like pour-over brewers, it “blooms” carbon dioxide out of the coffee leading to a sweeter, less-bitter cup. Oh, and 20 years later, it still costs just $31.

Due to its size and the durability of the plastic, the AeroPress quickly garnered a cult following among coffee lovers as the ideal brewer for camping, overseas travel or weeknight dinners at the in-laws, when a K-Cup just won’t do.
Catering to this use case, the company released a travel-ready AeroPress in 2019 called the AeroPress Go that boasted a smaller brewing chamber (eight vs ten ounces) and more compact form factor.
