The Ultimate Ears Everboom is the company’s newest portable Bluetooth speaker. It’s a smaller, more affordable version of the Epicboom that was released last year. Its combination of size and ruggedness—as well as a few other special features—makes it UE’s best-ever portable speaker for camping and hiking adventures.

It’s roughly half the size of UE’s Epicboom

Like all of UE’s Boom speakers, the Everboom is a true 360-degree speaker; you can place it centrally, and everyone standing around it will hear the sound.

It’s also roughly half the size of the nearly five-pound Epicboom, so it’s much less of a weight burden on long treks. The Everboom weighs just over two pounds and is super portable.

Yes, it comes with a carabiner

It’s fairly common for portable Bluetooth speakers of this size to have a built-in loop or lanyard to help you hang them on something, like a chair, bike, or bag. The Everboom, however, is the first portable speaker I’ve seen that comes with a full-on carabiner, which is ideal for attaching the speaker to a daypack.

The carabiner is detachable for those who don’t want to deal with it. And yes, the carabiner is colored to match its Everboom speaker.

Bring it to the pool — it floats

The Everboom has a IP67 water-resistance rating — just like the Epicboom, as well as the new Wonderboom 4 or Boom 4 — which is about as high as you can get in a portable Bluetooth speaker.  It can handle heavy splashes and even be submerged.

Like the Epicboom and Wonderboom before it, the Everboom is one of the rare portable Bluetooth speakers that even floats. So feel free to bring it to the pool, beach or secret lagoon.

Group it with UE’s other Boom speakers

The Everboom has the same features and functionality as the Epicboom. There’s an “outdoor boost” button for bumping the bass and, via the Boom app, you can group it with other UE’s both Boom speakers (sans the Wonderboom) and play the same music with all of them.

Additionally, UE is rolling out a new megaphone feature to all Boom speakers that support the Boom app — that includes the Everboom and Epicboom. When you open the app, tap the megaphone button, and then speak into your smartphone, your voice will be projected out of the speaker (a la a megaphone). Neat.

Ultimate Ears

Ultimate Ears was once the runway leader in portable Bluetooth speakers, but competition has gotten fierce, and its popular Boom, Wonderboom, and Megaboom speakers have felt pretty dated—they still charge via micro-USB, after all.

Well, I’m happy to report that’s changing.

Alongside the brand-new Everboom, Ultimate Ears has announced fourth-generation versions of its super-popular portable speakers; there’s Wonderboom 4 ($100), Boom 4 ($150) and Megaboom 4 ($200).

All these fourth-gen speakers look (and cost) the same as their predecessors — save for a few new colorways — but the big upgrade is that they all now have USB-C charging. Finally.

Price and availability

All four of Ultimate Ears’ newest portable speakers are available to order today. The UE Everboom is the most expensive of the lot, costing $250. It’s available in four colors: black, blue, purple and red.

The Wonderboom 4 ($100), Boom 4 ($150) and Megaboom 4 ($200) all cost the same as their predecessors (although most of those have been heavily discounted for some time). They are available in a few new colors, however.

The Wonderboom 4 is available in black, pink, blue and purple. The Boom 4 and Megaboom 4 are both available in the exact same black, blue, purple and red.
